Engine Gets Vibrated Unusually (Premio 240)

cheths727

Question

Hi. I do have a Toyota Premio 240 (Auto Gear). Yesterday I observed when the Gear is in D & the brakes are applied, engine got vibrated abnormally & still the issue continues. However I feel that the RPM goes down compared to earlier. The same thing happens when the gear is in R status. My Auto gear oil is due to change also. Just want to know that any of u guys had experienced such issue

Vibration could be most probably due to engine mounts.. However change you oil and see. Engine mounts gonna cost you alot i believe. I assume this car has gel mounts..

With AC off and engine warmed up what is the engine RPM? Does the vibration begin as you apply brake then return to normal (like a momentary dip in RPM) or is it continuous?

When was the last time you did a tuneup?

Incorrect spark plug gaps, carbon deposits on plugs, bad ignition coils, clogged injectors, dirty maf etc can all cause vibrations on idle. First change the Atf, then do a tuneup. If it still persists it's probably your engine mounts.

I don't think the 240 came with gel mounts, the 260 did.

Couldnt've said it better plus to clean the pcv & idle c v.

Since ATF replacement is due change it right away and see. Also check the status of engine mounts

Now lets see, all above judgement are wrong. Why? You didn't investigated the matter.

Dear car lovers, please investigate things before do and as well as comment. Asanka_rg has figured out it since he had same experience. Otherwise, the only valuable information cheths727 given was, "it happened yesterday" which means the issue started suddenly.

So please ask more details before comment. Otherwise, you guys will also be just like our mechanics who remove engines for just a matter of replace only a fuse for Rs.25.

Respect Rumesh88 who started the investigation in proper way.

Hi. Thanks for your advices. The issue was with the Ignition Coil & same was replaced. Now engine runs smoothly......

BTW what did you do to help OP ?

Though you have mentioned ignition coil in your general list, you have suggested "First change the Atf, then do a tuneup. If it still persists it's probably your engine mounts. " which means you too went on wrong path.

No offense mate, but I don't think there's anything wrong with suggesting :)

No one here is getting paid for doing this, all of these are suggestions as to what could be wrong. No one is insisting him to do this and that, the OP should have some common sense to confirm the details from a valid source before proceeding.

OP has clearly mentioned that his Atf is due, so are you suggesting that he shouldn't change it now since the coil was replaced? I have mentioned what" must" be done first. A vibration from mounts, coils or plugs will not cause much further damage, but not changing Atf "will" destroy his gear box. If you don't understand the difference between preventive maintainance and a minor repair then you shouldn't be on this forum, heck you shouldn't even own a car!
