came across a thread while trolling around E..K..i.com on the kwid. Folk who had pre ordered were justifying their purchase saying it was better than Maruti and that they had no time to spend in garages if they bought a 15 yo Jap car for that price. After seeing some peoples reasoning I have been having a bout of diarrhea.

If someone wants to die in a fiery car crash rather than spend some time in a garage let them. I say it's natural selection doing its work.

Me too. Especially in that forum most of the big mouths are just school kids.

The design cues of these two deathtraps have a very chinese look. So this is what 2 minutes of googling revealed:

China-Mini-Electric-Cars-Red-Golf-Cars.j

Here's the Alibaba link. I'm pretty sure they have a 4-door version as well.

Edit: Here's the 4-door version:

Thanks for sharing Crosswind. When I see this "Sayuri" , I realized it is not designed here and it is assembled here. It is not easy to design and make a prototype in good shape here. Look at simply, how many plastics parts are around it and can someone think the cost of a mould for making a single plastic item.

Maybe the chassis was made here, but the other parts probably came as a kit. They hired some guys to wield the chassis and fix the parts properly.

More photos;

This thing must be definitely being shipped in a kit format and the chassis is added/replaced locally. Something in the line of what Leepu does in Bangladesh or wherever he lives.

@sampath - for a prototype car, you don't need to make moulds. Body panels are usually fabricated manually.

And there's nothing more Sri Lankans like than pretending to be driving something on the lines of a SUV...

But out of pure curiosity i googled and came across an ad in the 'quick' site. Seems like someones bringing them down from india ??

to quote that ad: "LKR – 1.992 million (Basic Model) – LKR – 2.130 million – LKR – 2.160 million (Full Option)"

No word on pricing from A*W

Full option but have to down up rear windows by hand. Japanese will die is they saw A*W marketing :D
