This is definitely pro level DIY my friend, hats off to you for the homemade air compressor. I've used the same setup for a vacuum pump.

Do you think it will hold consistent pressure as you are painting? Or do you think you will have to take it in batches? I'm sure it will be able to handle all the prep work like primer and maybe even the initial base/guide coat.

It need to wait around 3-4 minutes till the tank fill. When its reach 50-60 psi I am starting the spray work. In the beginning the pressure it bit high. So controlling it by sprayer adjustment. When pressure reducing need to adjust it gradually. In short it does not hold constant pressure. But can manage when you are familiar with it.

With fully filled air tank, It can spray complete panel once. I could apply last coat also using it. But panel by panel. The hood was the biggest panel which I couldn't handle with it. So hired a compressor when painting the hood.

You are so brave to attempt a whole paint job by yourself! And that too with a home made compressor! I'm lost for words?

Please elaborate on your compressor contraption. If it's good enough for spray painting a car, that's definitely good enough to get some compressed air for cleaning stuff.

I did not try it. So may be possible. But need to fill the tank before use.

 

Body filling was the next step. Unfortunately I have only few pictures of this step. Anyhow followed the above video instructions throughout the filling process. Additionally applied putty on top of filled areas and small scratches.

After all preparation applied the primer coat.

After sanding the primer, applied the filler coat. Gray color filler applied on the body shell. Later thought to use white color filler as the top coat will be white.

Simply wow... i'm sure moggie will look better than a CBG- number Axio or something

Impressive work there @kusumsiri!

DIY Glove boxes

When I bought the car there were no original glove boxes. So decided to make by myself as a DIY task in the post corona period. Here are some images of it.

Used a thin Aluminum sheet as the base metal. The size for one glove box is 36"x8".

Quick question on the painted rims in the above post: Should you powder-coat the rims for durability if you're going to paint them? (Or was that how it was done?)

@Kavvz Thks for your feedback. The rims painted by me with a home made air compressor. So its just a simple paint job. No way to do powder coating. But did a clear coat on top of white for good appearance.

No worries, that way too as I guess you can always repaint it as needed (No big deal, I think this is how the army do it on the ceramonial / operational gun carriages and associated jeeps/ troop carrier vehicles they roll out for prades and those always look great...)

Nothing short of impressive! Never have I been so excited by seeing a glove box before.
