to say if its suitable or not, we need to know your concerns requirements and priorities.
Is it comfort?
Is it fuel efficiency?
Is it speed?
Very unlikely that you'll get everything in one car.

My concern is vehicle heating and other effect on vehicle condition!

As watchman said YES it will be okay.....and it will keep being okay and not strand you in the middle of nowhere as long as you TAKE CARE OF IT !!! at proper time intervals irrespective of whether you do 250km/day or 250km/month or 250km/year....

As whether your car can actually do a 250km/day right now...well I don't think any of us can answer that question cause it depends on the current state of your car and more than likely none of have seen/heard/felt your vehicle :D

We had a brand new N16 (with 86kms on the clock) in 2000 and we did the usual holiday trips to N Eliya etc in it. Once we had a tough time negotiating the hills en route to N Eliya as there was a fault with the 'sensor' (according to my father) but that's the only instance we had a problem with our N16. This was the basic trim (no power shutters etc) and was a Manual Transmission.

250 KM is nothing for an N16 as long as you had maintained it properly

I once did a Colombo Jaffna run in a Lancer A72 which was approx 396 Km one way without any problem and at that time the car was 26 years old and had no A/C nor power steering either!!!!

it all depends on how you maintain ur car

btw, where are you planning to go?

Im using N16 Ex Saloon Car. Is it suitable for a long distance travel (more than 250 Km per day). This is only for twice a week. Wait your valuable comment.
Although you have not been very specific, your main concern seems to be over possible adverse effects on your car when used regularly for running long distances. On a rough estimate you would be doing about 2,500 km per month mostly away from high traffic areas. If that is the case the wear and tear in your vehicle would be roughly equivalent to someone running the same car for about 50km a day in Colombo (Assuming you are running at 50 kmph average against 25 kmph in CBO and similar road conditions). This is an average figure for those coming to work from the outskirts of Colombo. Hope my explanation justifies Watchman's single word "YES". Edited by Rumesh88

In 2008, the day before Vesak poya day, I drove my previous Japanese Alto continuously 5 hours and 15 minutes from Fort to Peradeniya (About 110km) due to heavy traffic jam. :suicide2:
(It was a manual transmission and drove without A/C) . Nothing happened , no increase of engine temperature observed.

Belive, for well maintained N16, this is nothing

Well, I have driven my Alfa 164 from Colombo to Batti, then back to Colombo the next day and believe it or not drive back to Trinco the very next day. Absolutely no issues. There was a month that i ran close to 4500Kms in that thirsty beast and had no issues than a under inflated tire.

The Ford Courier I used to have (Now owned by Ripper) was driven continuously to Jaffna from Colombo, leaving at 4am, pee stops here and there and a lunch stop in Vavuniya, got there only at around 6pm, so that is more or less 10 hours on the road, no issues.

My old E39 used to do Colombo -Anuradhpaura and back to Colombo on a weekly basis at one point, again no issues.

I am not even sure why anyone should be worried about running 250Kms, if the car is crappily maintained, you will know, 10 mins in to your journey anyway.. :)

Not to mention my current workhorse, the Forester, runs for hours on a daily basis and still ready to run the next day. In fact, I just got back from a 300+ km journey today with nothing but a sore back... :)

My 54 year old 1959 Willys CJ5 goes upto Hatton and back (230kms) climbing up all those hills without any problems (at least once a month) so I see no issue with a N16 doing 500kms a week. Of course "proper maintanence and care" is THE RULE!

VVTi, do you run some sort of courier service where the package is guarunteed to be shipped anywhere in SL in utmost comfort as opposed to bounce arounf in the back of a DHL van :P

Machang, you must find a job that allows you to do the things you love, drive around SL and do F##K all the rest of the times... and get paid for it. :))

One of my previous bosses (Man from the Land of the Rising Sun) was quite serious about getting us a Hayabusas... :) Till we told him that as much as we love it, we can't register them.

To add, I've driven my civic mount-kalmunai 392km one way. Two trips a month. Fastest within 5 hours slowest 8 hours.

Never so much as even a flat tyre.

Maintain your car like we do, and you won't have issues either.

And a "trouble free" car is one that is maintained well. That costs. Remember.

C Perera,

N16 is a very reliable car most motorists chose to use for daily running.

My personal advice is as other members had mentioned if the vehicle is maintained well.

Then there is nothing to worry to travel around Sri Lanka nonstop running.

If I am not mistaken N16; car was first manufactured in year 2000 as Sixth generation of Nissan cars.

Many countries around the world made them they had proved in trials as a very reliable car.

Member "KOMISIRIPALA" mentions. And a "trouble free" car is one that is maintained well. That costs. Remember.

The longest run I have done in SL was 635kms in one day (20hrs including several stops) in a '85 Nissan Vanette C120. Started off from Moratuwa at 4am and returned at 12mid night. Journey went through Colombo, Peradeniya, Gampola, Dolosbage, Galaha, N'eliya, Badulla, Lunugala, Passara, B'wela, Haputale, Ratnapura, Ingiriya, Horana, Panadura and back to base. It involved quite some interior running as well. No mechanical trouble whatsoever, except that I was totally nackered upon return to base and felt as if though I was still moving when I even went to sleep!!!!.

@CJ5,

Machan thats one hell of a journey to complete in one day in a bumpy vanette. Lunugala is my hometown and now lives in Horana, so one way journey to lunugala is more than enough for me for a day!.
