I couldn't find it on the site known for ''quick'' deals. Curiously though, three Capri examples turned up. One project car supposedly in Boralesgamuwa and two daily runners for above 1mil. Then again, this is the site that had numerous vintage cars for sale in H'tota of all places!

true indeed some of the adverts are fakes and scams!

saw a english no Hyundai Accent for 750k in sooriyawewa of all places hahahaah and the guy wanted 5000 bucks and said he will bring it to colombo to show didnt go through as it could be i) a stolen car he is trying to palm of,f as who will sell an Accent for that price,ii)get the 5000 bucks and never turns up!

on the other hand there are many genuine adverts there as well and I bought a very decent vehicle from it,its just that since its free you got to be 100% carefull and use your discretion

also sometme back i think i saw a Capri for 450k one day and next day it was taken off! (either a fake or he realised his pricing mstake and deleted it !)

I've heard of a breaker yard in Udugampola area which stocks tonnes of used Ford Escort spares. You might wanna find out about that place too.

Talking of breakers, there is a guy in kottawa who runs a yard of classic ford recondition parts, PM me for details, went there few times he has quite a few hard to find parts with him.

Just came across this thread. I too am restoring a Mk1 Escort (or trying to anyway). Other priorities keep coming up and swallowing up the Escort fund

Any ideas how much an Escort 1.6 engine is worh and roughly what a rebuild cost would be?

Hi,

Sadly very few updates to give .But the engine is coming along. It's been rebored, cranks done, etc. Now its a matter of putting it together, testing it. But hte mechanic is busy putting together another engine, so mine is next in line.

I still need to find the brake upgrade. Was promised one, but it never materialized.

Surprisingly not.... in hindsight i'd have done well to keep it, but no major regret - at least not like with Mrs Robinson (the Mk1 Escort in the picture)
