Question

Posted (edited)

Hi guys,

My car is a toyota Axio Luxel (2008 model) & last Friday(21st Feb) gave a good wash & did not use it after that. Today morning I started it & put in idle for like 5 minutes. then suddenly i heard some missing sort of a sound & engine went off automatically. When i tried to re-start it dashboard showed few indicators & couldn't start it back. I couldn't take a picture at that time , but how ever i have found the same indicators in the net. (Please refer the attachment where i have marked the indicators in red).Kindly let me know if anyone ever came across this issue or knows the reason for this.....

Thanks in advance..

My initial guess is that your might have accidentally gotten water into the petrol tank (or maybe even through the air cleaner) and after the petrol in the lines was used up it sucked in the water and died.

When you say it couldnt start back do you mean the starter motor cranks but engine cant fire on its own, or does the starter motor itself not crank?

or can water leak in to your plugs or injectors. i would suggest you to not try any single attempt to start the car w\o consulting your mechanic. as you said if it's a good wash sure water has leaked to some engine & elctrical parts.

I believe the Axio ECU module is in Engine bay, if you not careful and sprayed water to the module then you better checked out with reputed mech.

The two indicators highlighted in red are:

1. The headlight range control indicator (top):

This indicates that there is a problem with the headlight range control system which automatically adjusts the angle in which the light is projected on to the road. I'm guessing the "good" wash loosened a connector that is related to the circuit.

2. The check engine light (bottom):

This indicates that the ECU has detected that something has gone wrong with either one or more sensors connected to the engine. You can identify what the issue is by doing a diagnostic scan.

Battery is in good condition mate....recently replaced it....

So guys basically what i thought to do is, bring down a person to do the diagnostic scan & then proceed with whatever the recommendation done by him... any other suggestion?

Oh nooo. I just recovered from a same GOOD WASH but it cost me MAF sensor and O2 sensor ( @ Rumesh88- that cleaning didn't go quiet well even after repeated Air Volume Learn and didn't run smooth so I decided to replace both from Agents)

Hi guys,

My apologies for being this late to reply with results....As i checked with an electrician, he directly brought up the point that this is an issue with the alternator pulley & the exact issue is battery is not charging in the idling mode. So we replaced the pulley & now all work fine.

On a separate note, mechanic also mentioned that this is a general issue for this model.

Thank you everyone for all the opinions & suggestions. :grinning-smiley-003:
