Hi Guys,

A friend of mine told me that Toyota is going to release new re-design vehicles for Allion and Premio in 2015, do you guys have any updated news? is that confirmed?

Thanks

Well the word is that there is a model change, including the probable introduction of a Hybrid variant. Several automobile gossip magazines in Japan just speculate a lot of things and do renderings of what it might look like (the renderings were pretty much similar to a Camry front end stuck on to a new Corolla (the export model) back-end which actually looked like a shrunk Avalon). Some say it will be shown in late 2014 for early/mid 2015 sales date whilst some say the same thing a year later...so I haven't seen anything concrete yet.......I dunno maybe someone else had heard anything new ?

Me thinks they'll introduce the next mode in June

could be...either way...considering the market segment and Toyota's recent past within in, it would be surprising if it is anything worth writing home about....even if they do come up with something a bit more passionate like the Coronas and Carinas of the past it will take a lot of convincing.

Ease up a little boys, its a valid question and like it or not people seem to want to know about these things. So let them, if the herd wants to continue to be a herd, why waste time?

So came across a Japanese auto gossip magazine that pretty much says the next generation Premio/Allion will be launched in November of this year. What is interesting is that they claim the new one will be more closer in design the Euro version Corolla (which might actually look okay compared to the current model and also I guess it would be based on the same platform..as it did before). The article mentioned only about the 1.5L Hybrid variant. Did some googling and apparently there were a few other articles from January of this year that says the same thing....Hmmm

By any chance if its the hybrid system from the Aqua, that'll be very under-powered :sad-smiley-058:

Dont think it willl be an issue for SL Buyers :sarcastic_hand:

Well the article (which was from what is partly an auto gossip mag) only talked about a 1.5L with a HSD. Officially Toyota might do something completely different. IMO I think it would make sense to put the same system as the Prius or Noah/Voxy.

That system would perfectly match the Allion/Premio but then again wont Premio/Allion eat in to the Prius market creating a competition within their own product range :sad-smiley-066:

Highly unlikely to be an issue, the Allion/Premio appeal to buyers who want more conservative cars (and i believe there are a LOT of those still in Japan) while the Prius is willfully different and "out there". Even if it does eat into the Prius market a little in Japan I doubt Toyota will be worried since the Prius continues to pull in massive volumes everywhere else in the world.

Whatever "JDM" fanbois may think, to a global automaker like Toyota the Japanese market is not the main priority anymore.

True a 1.8L Hybrid might kill some sales off of the Prius but a 1.5L Hybrid would kill sales from the Axio Hybrid and a 2.0L Hybrid will vtake sales away from the Sai. So I dont think Toyota finds it an issue and just wants to have a wide chouce for both 3 and 5 number categories.
