Colombo Motor Show - 2009

MADZ

Recommended Posts

Overall Id say the show failed to live up to expectations... there were almost NO agent displays for one thing, and the displays seemed placed in a very haphazard manner too! quite dissaoointing IMHO... The saddest thing i saw was that blue Datsun 260Z that was on display outside. Sadly that Moron osanda had managed to get his claws on to it, with predictably hideous results! Damn shame considering how rare early Z's are in SL.

The Cobra Rep was neat though, also managed to talk to the guy who built it, but couldnt start it.... Stingray you lucky bugger!!

agree on the sentiment on the show... was very confused about that 260Z... did it have its wheels/rims fitted inside out? cos it looked REALLY odd. And adding his name on the hood is not cool!

yes the cobra replica was probably the only 'new' thing in the entire show. I saw a good number of bikes saturday night, but most were gone on sunday. A friend said an R1 on display had crashed saturday night.

Yep. It would have been nice if the agents display their current and upcoming models with the price details and some brochures.

Even the D*MO could have tried to get down a Nano (I don't know they already have got a sample one) and displayed as there are so many people are waiting to see it to buy it. especially the Maruti Buyers.

General Manager of that stall is a friend of mine, so managed to do it.. the foreign bloke who built it told me that the door is 4 inches longer than the original cobra, even with that extra inches i found it hard to get in and out.:)

the show was generally sh*t. the only cars that livened things up a bit were the type rr, the cobra, the escort, the wwII jeep and that tarted up 260z and a couple of minis and beetles. everything else was just too ordinary. i want my 50 rupees back

Lol I agree! bit OT but I could've used that 50 bucks for some petrol as i ended up driving around the neighbourhood to kill time as we finished the entire show within 15 mins. lol and thats after talking to the cobra owner and Nigel Perera! lol Very dissapointing show. Though I wanted to know if that really was Dinesh D's evo X on display? of whether its a lancer thats kitted up for shows like this?

Thats the real deal :)

ahh nice.. I kinda figured anyway cause the front disks of that car looked about the size or even slightly bigger than the entire rim of my car! guess i'll be seeing that again on sunday.. we'll see whether it'll live up to expectations, or whether a newbie to the supercar event might pip it.:D:alc:

Nothing? Not worth going? I was having a cold today so was thinking of going tomorrow, but if its not worth it, I'll stay away. Could use the rest.

Let me put it this way mate, Its not the case worth or not, Take it as an annual motoring event, or rather one of two Sri Lankan motor shows. My advice, you may go. Seeing is believing.
