Carepoint, I presume.

Anyway I don't see anything wrong in mentioning names, as long as you are not trying to make false allegations. Let the mods inform us if there's anything wrong with it.

I visited their newly opened joint near Rajagiriya bridge two months back, just to get the car washed. The guy opened the bonnet and started wiping the dust with a damp cloth. Not only its dangerous for the person who was doing it (since the engine bay is damn hot), he could have easily pulled somethign out, as he was poking this cloth through injector rail and plug wires and sensors.

That was the first and last time I visited any of their establishments.

BTW they charge 650 to wash a car.

Where to start.. broken AC vents, broken switches, incomplete undercarriage washes, oil on the pedals, smashed windscreen (jury still out, but heard they agreed it was their fault, went all the way to the police afaik), attitude prone supervisors, baka panditha interior cleaners, rude cashiers, etc etc.

They have to understand that they undertake to carry out their advertised services for a fee, while in their custody, the vehicle is their responsibility.

People come to them for exchange of goods and services, attitude should not be doled out for free.

Once one of the monkeys pasted that horrendous red sticker on the windscreen, I asked him to remove it, the foreman got all pissy. I said my vehicle is not your f**king billboard.

Never went there again.

Sorry for what you had to go through and it seems you are not the only victim of their treatment.

Once they are established they completely ignore the work ethics.Best we can do is simply ignore these places and spread the word.

Its good that you brought this up.

Cheers.

No worries.

Best thing is to find one of those small joints and get them to do. At least you can tell them what to be done. I have such a place in Mirihana. Guy who owns the joint does most of the work also. Very kind, gentle and friendly type. Loves his cars. His personal set of wheels is a P11 so that says a thing or two about his love for fine cars.

Just past the Mirihana Harak maduwa (Cops Shop), just past the Kanatte Road turn off. The guy's name is Lanka. He is the one who gave the Alfa a new lease of life.

I lolled so hard :D

Pardon my ignorance, but P11 as in..?

(Edit: Google Gods tell me it could be mean a Nissan Primera, f so then, I guess that's a good thing...? Am genuinely confused at the the whole P11 / Nissan love situation...I mean its not like its a Honda Vezel or something)

The Primera P11 is actually one of Nissan's nicer cars to drive that is actually affordable. It came with either a SR18DE or SR20DE engine (I think later on the SR18 was replaced with a QG18).

I had the P11 with the SR20. Loved it to bits.

Thanks for the insight Gents. (Will file that little nugget away for consideration when my next used car purchase comes up.) A quick question though: Isn't a 1.8 or a 2.0 going to be a tad underpowered in a car that size?

The P11 is not exactly a large car. and the SR20 is quite the power-plant.

The Primera won the British Touring Car Championship manufacturers and team titles thanks to RML in 1998 and, in 1999 British Touring Car (P.O.S) backing from the factory took the Independents Cup in 1999 and 2000.

In a word... No. You might be thinking about the P12 Primera which was a larger car (though that did have the option of a 200 Plus BHP SR20VE), the P11 was quite small and weighed about 1200 Kg if memory serves, the SR20DEs 150 Horses were more than enough to put a grin on your face, especially if you had a Camino (JDM import version) with all the sporting kit.

Yes exactly, in my head I was comparing the Primera with the Nissan Bluebird / Cefiro / Teana which although not significantly bigger come with larger engines. Very cool overall and certainly the P11 is something to watch out for on the used car market. At the very least, it warrants a test drive based on all the positive reviews by you folks!

Good luck finding a non-raped one though.

a lot of fan boys bought them in recent years and destroyed it by giving them the Honda Rice treatment.

Ah ! Fan boys! I avoid their cars (well the altered ones at least) like the plague, not that there's anything wrong with cosmetic or performance modifications (shape-shape MD! Shape!) but there is too much shoddy workmanship out there to take a risk on a car that's been under the knife.

Reading about the P11 on the web and seeing when it ended production makes me think that you are right and that it maybe too late to source out a decent one but one can still hope. However at least, I now know of another decent model / fun drive car to watch out for as I putter around looking for replacements.

If you do find one, please note that the mileage you see will not be the correct one. It is easier than farting in a pool to change the mileage.

Mine had '145000' when I bought it... A*W records showed a whopping 453000 at their last service which was 3 years before I bought it in 2007. The reason I unloaded mine was after another 3 years of use, it started to burn off to much oil and I was not in the mood or emotionally attached to that car that much to rebuild the engine.

The tampering with the Odo meter now is at plague level and it is really sad to see than even seemingly decent people who claim to be doctors or lawyers or even senior bank executives ask their local maka baas to change the clock before slapping on some 'sale paint' and selling the car as a low mileage 'Doctor driven' car.
