Didn't know we had one in SL : A 1957 Nissan Prince Skyline Deluxe? That's a pretty cool car!

I swear I saw one in Kandy, but later thought it to be some Opel Kapitan. Then I came across a post on FB with this pic. And it gave insight that what I saw could be a Skyline. Never thought that you would get it that fast

Love the picture, a moment in time preserved! You can literally see the pride of ownership by the way the driver is leaning on the car: Amazing! It must have been a super cool car to have at the time when everyone else had British cars! Is there a story behind the picture / Where is the picture from?

Also you should go again @Gummybr: Throw us another gem! ?

Yup floor is yours. Was told that these came with American aid project.

I think some International trucks come over as part of that project too, very cool looking vehicles: Must have been a sight back in the day when there was nothing similar on the road...

Yes there is....the owner is the father of a family friend (who I only realised as a result of the FB post). The exact type of this is an ALSID-I...

Here was his description in the post:

"How many of you motor enthusiasts can identify this car ? It is a Prince Skyline Mk1 by Prince Motors Japan. Manufactured around 1959 /60s 1500 cc rear wheel driven with the differential mounted seperately on the body ( like Mercedes) There were under 50 cars in Sri Lanka mostly the Mk 2 with larger winged rear tail lamps - Ceylon Tours was the agent. My father purchased it in 1971 Comfortable and powerful car but spares were difficult. When I was working at Pfizer, I have driven it extensively all over from Matara to Jaffna every other month fpr 2 years. We sold it around 1980. I think Nissan bought over Prince Motors and the car was named Nissan Skyline....predecessor of the later car of sports fame.

Photograph around 1972 with our family with driver and maid but my father not in photo." - Rohan Nannarakkara

I asked if any of them are around..the where abouts of this one is not known..but according to him:
A former Diyawadana Nileme had one, and an accountant had one at Kirulapone.

That is the FB post if you want to check it out...

No takers? Hmm...it's hard to expand the previous angle without giving the game away entirely, so here's another angle:
