Allion 240 Or 260??

rohan.gunarathna

Question

Hello guys,

I am interested on buying an Allion and need to get clarified the performance of 240 vs 260. I know by appearance 260 is better. I am looking at a comparison between 240 (2006 model) and 260 (2007/2008 model) as my budget would be around 3.5-4.0 million Rs. I could observe that 240 (2006) has a good market compared to 260 (2007/2008) though price of 260 is little bit higher to 240.

At present I'm using a 3rd gen 121 (G grade) and willing to know a comparison with that too.

Rohan

260 also came with factory options such as reverse camera, intelligent key etc. I'd always go for condition of a car over model, but try to get the newer car if its within budget. I think prices have fallen of late so you might be able to pick up a 260 just under budget.

Thanx a lot dear guys.

@ Don...My main concern is, why the market price of 240 (2006) goes just below the price of 260(2007) even 260 has certainly a better look. So I feel 240 (2006) performs better.

If you buy cars on the basis of future market price, you might as well meditate infront of a crystal ball.

Prices fluctuate and both the 240 and 260 have fallen as they age, and as the market settles down. Prices will fluctuate and some of the value will disappear due to inflation as well. You should buy something which suits your purposes now, rather than procratenating over resale value.

Go for the 260, For me its interior and exterior looks better, performs better has more options and is newer. if you look hard you may be able to find a 2007 model for 3.7m or less. Also keep in mind that most cars sell below the asking price.

I am interested on buying an Allion and need to get clarified the performance of 240 vs 260.

If you can go for the 260 that would be really good. It will be a smooth ride than the 240. Others please correct me if i'm wrong.

260 comes with a CVT gear box with engine options of 1.5 , 1.8 , 2.0 which commonly go as A15, A18 & A20 VS the 240 comes with standard 4 speed automatic gear box with engine options of 1.5 , 1.8 , 2.0. But i've heard a CVT version of Allion 240 A20 as well.

In summary 260 will give you a smoother ride with better fuel economy and more performance when needed. And of cause its better as its newer than the 240.

The A18 is hard to find. But would be a good buy if you can afford one. But I doubt that it will be more economical than the A15.

Family has one, it doesn't do well on city driving, but in Long trips it does better than 1.5

240(2004) does 7-9km/l in city limits while 260(2007) does 11-13km/l. Long distance 240 does 12-14km/l and 260 about 15-17km/l. 260 has better interior & exterior than 240.In every way 260 is a better option. But I seriously doubt that you would find one within your price range (3.5-4) A 2007 260 might be at least 4.2M
