Sky
Toyota recalls 1.5 mln cars over brake fluid leak By Patrice Novotny (AFP) – 7 hours ago TOKYO — Toyota on Thursday announced a safety recall of about 1.5 million vehicles worldwide to fix a brake fluid leak that it warned can gradually diminish braking performance. The world's largest automaker, which was battered by a global safety crisis earlier this year, said it would voluntarily recall 740,000 cars in the United States and almost 600,000 in Japan to fix the problem. It was also recalling 50,000 autos in Europe, 60,000 in China, 30,000 in Australia and 50,000 in other Asian nations, said a Toyota spokesman in Japan. He said that no accidents had been linked to the defect. Toyota is recalling the cars to repair a flaw in which "a small amount of the brake fluid could slowly leak from the brake master cylinder", which would lead the brake warning lamp to illuminate, the company said.If at this point the brake fluid is not replaced, "the driver will begin to notice a spongy or soft brake pedal feel and braking performance may gradually decline", Toyota USA said in a statement. The latest recall came as Toyota became more aggressive in catching possible defects as part of a campaign to improve its consumer image, said Tatsuya Mizuno, auto analyst at Mizuno Credit Advisory. But he warned that frequent recalls could also damage Toyota's image as a quality carmaker. "The company is very keen about customer reputation and recalls more often than before, as a precaution. It's better to recall in advance and in big volume," Mizuno said. "On the other hand, the series of recalls make us think that Toyota is (just another carmaker and) not far superior to the others as it was previously," he said. The cost of the latest recall should be small and is unlikely to affect Toyota's finances, Mizuno added. The autos affected by the recall are the 2005-2006 models of the Avalon, the 2004 through 2006 non-hybrid models of the Highlander, the Lexus RX330 and the 2006 Lexus GS300, IS250 and IS350 vehicles, Toyota USA said in a statement. US owners of affected vehicles will be notified by early November, it said. In Japan, Toyota announced it would recall more than 600,000 cars spanning 13 models, including the Crown, Mark X, Lexus IS and GS, according to filings submitted with the transport ministry. While in 11 of the models Toyota will fix defects in fuel pump wires and brake master cylinders, the total also includes more than 1,800 units of its Voxy and Noah models with a speedometer defect. In China, a local Toyota official also reported a separate recall of tens of thousands of vehicles for a faulty dust cover for the brake system. The latest moves by the auto giant come after a series of mass recalls of around 10 million vehicles worldwide announced in late 2009 and early 2010 undermined Toyota's once stellar reputation. It led to US congressional investigations and a record 16.4 million dollar fine to settle claims it hid accelerator pedal defects blamed for dozens of deaths. Since then Toyota has seen its US market share shrink by 1.4 points to 15.2 percent for the first nine months of this year. Toyota said earlier this month it had completed more than five million repairs on US vehicles affected by the series of recalls. Toyota said some 80 percent of the 2.3 million US vehicles affected by the "sticky pedal" defect had been repaired while 86 percent of the 148,000 Prius and Lexus vehicles recalled for braking problems had also been fixed. Despite its woes Toyota, a global leader in green car technology, said last week that its Prius petrol-electric hybrid, launched in 1997, had topped the two million sales mark by the end of September. Its popularity has continued despite Toyota last year recalling 437,000 Prius and other hybrid vehicles to repair a flaw in the braking system. Copyright © 2010 AFP. TharakaWi
Read a little about this in few articles. Out of the Toyotas in SL, Camry seems to be one vehilce that is recalled. Can an affected car owner take his car to Toyota Lanka and get the same fix done free of charge?
weda
Toyota is recalling over seven million cars worldwide due to a fire risk caused by the electric windows. What's the Problem? The problem is down to the master window switch on the driver's side which appears to be "notchy or sticky" according to Toyota. The fire risk occurs when any sort of lubricant is applied in an attempt to solve the problem. What cars are affected? It affects most models in the Toyota range including the Yaris, Auris and RAV4, built between 2006 and 2008. Despite earlier reports, Toyota has confirmed to us that the Corolla is not part of the recall. Around 138,000 vehicles are in the UK are involved in the recall. What happens next? All owners who are affected by this recall will be contacted by Toyota directly within the next six weeks and asked to book an appointment to get the fault repaired. If you are particularly concerned then there is a registration look up on the toyota.co.uk website or you can call them on 0800 1388744 to check if your car is affected. Toyota will either replace the faulty switch or lubricate it depending on how bad it is. Repairs will be carried out free of charge. If you have been affected by the recall please let us know how you get on below. And we are also happy to try answer any questions you might have about what is happening with the recall. hrm
Well the latest Toyota recall relates to the same issue(master window switch) that Honda announced some days back for a set of CRVs/FITs. Were they came from same parts supplier?

Fixzit
"""""The latest problem affects the power-window switch on the driver's side, which didn't have grease applied evenly during production, causing friction and sometimes smoke from the switch."""" weird ..now how would a switch smoke due to friction given that you only use it for couple of seconds each time either holding upwards or downwards? osaka_dude
http://toyota.jp/recall/2014/0409_1.html in Start-stop system vehicles. Due to relay ageing effect, starter motor may continuosly operate and lead to fire in worst case. Remedy: Change to a Relay with ageing countermeasure and new-Starter motor(!) for free a bit old news, but I wonder if Toyota is making more recalls to make them look less important, after the heavy fine they had to pay in US for hiding defects. and will Toyot@ Lanka include a new starter motor for free if our affected Axio owners drive there and demand for a fix? CNX
It was wonderful to note that we have members who are so up to date and update the others on the forum as soon as these information are posted on the Toyota web site. Osaka Dude on the other hand with all his inside information from Japan it self is 7 weeks late, wakes up from his slumber and opens up useless threads with old information as if it is brand new and discovered only by his genius!

Crosswind
Iguana Stew Recipe Ingredients 1 live Iguana 1 large Onion 2 Cloves Garlic 3 Tomatoes 2 Green Peppers 4 teaspoon Achiote Oil 1 pinch Pepper Salt — To Taste Make the achiote oil by frying the achiote slowly until the oil is red. Kill the iguana by cutting off its head. Open the belly lengthwise and remove all the entrails. Cook in salted water until the meat is tender (take care not to let it get too soft). Peel and cut in portions. Season with all the above ingredients and cook with about 1 cup water, until almost dry. You can probably substitute osaka dude if you can't find a live iguana I don't know what the f**k achiote is! I am just a newbie like you always dying to get expert opinion from pora-members. you overlooked 3 simple things about the post by your wonderful members. 1.they do not mention in detail, the reason for recall and exactly which Axio/Fielder/Ractis are affected with chassis numbers which may be already in SL as grey imports. 2.The Prius topic is locked, thanks to some moron sabotaging it with stew recipes about his ancestors. So it is no longer possible to discuss anything there. 3.BBC and CBS are not "directly from Toyota website" I hope the recipes already posted in this thread by the other moron about his ancestors, would not lead to the same fate here. Have a nice day! Edited May 28, 2014 by osaka_dude
Davy
Why do you seriously have to open a new thread for every recall? There are enough and more threads about manufacturer (and Toyota specific) recalls. Use one of them without polluting the forum. http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/8508-manufacturer-recalls/ http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/14412-toyota-recalls/
