Japanese Car News

The Japanese manufacturers have been giving sneak peaks of pretty much all the concepts and new models that will be showcased at the Tokyo Motorshow in just 3 weeks. Amongst many others this one kind of seems interesting. The Toyota SFR, supposedly the size of a Vitz and apparently it is going back to Toyota's roots of simple FR cars :) Toyota seems to be interested in commercializing it...but who knows...they might change their minds at the last minute

This could be the next Copen

Mmm.....two things

1) The dimensions are a bit larger than that of a kei car (which the Copen is). It is almost the size of the Mazda Miata, then again it apparently IS based on a Vitz frame.

2) Toyota claims that this is a modern day re-incarnation of the Toyota Sports 800, so doubt they will give badge it as a Daihatsu as it is. Then again, if it is a non kei car platform it is highly unlikely that Daihatsu would do anything with it to make it look different because where normal cars/vans are concerned they only/just re-badge them.

Having unveiled the next Gen Escudo in Frankfurt (think i posted a pic and some basic specs); Suzuki Japan has announced its plans for the Escudo name plate (in Japan at least)

The Escudo that was recently unveiled, it is in fact smaller and is only a bit larger than the SX-4 and the Escudo is being categorized as a cross-over (where the previous model was a mini-SUV I suppose ?). After all this time the Escudo will go FF (from FR) and will have a 1.6L engine (putting out about 110HP). At the Frankfurt motor show Suzuki announced a 1.6L TC engine, but Suzuki Japan has not stated whether this engine is the same. It will also be getting an electronic AWD system with three modes (as opposed to the old fashioned system that the current model has). The car will be available in January. Prices start at 2.2mil yen for a FF specimen and 2.3mil yen for an AWD.

So far still quite disheartening...(at least I feel so...). The brighter side is at least for now Suzuki will keep the existing model as the Escudo 2.4. No word as to when or how that is going to evolve.

I like that interior,

The seats look like half leather and half alcantara

The analog clock is a nice touch

circle A/C vents seem to be Suzuki thing, I have no complains against

good ol'd hand brake!

Toyota to focus on hybrid, plug-in hybrid, electric and fuel-cell vehicles

18861525561620988900.jpg

Toyota is predicting gas and diesel car sales will be near zero in about 30 years.

The car maker's main focus is to cut carbon-dioxide emissions from its own fleet by more than 22% of its 2010 global average by 2020, and 90% by 2050, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The interior rocks but the exterior has lost every bit of HIACE DNA.

Yeah the ruined the exterior, it looks like a Chinese van. Should have stuck with the original Hiace deisng

Looks like something came out of Rolls Royce

If you are referring the exterior the new Ghost has a similar headlight design, DRL surrounding the headlamps

Some of my pics from the Tokyo Motorshow....(I am not the most skilled behind the camera...but the lighting at the show was set such a way that it makes the car light up and darken out the crowd in the back no matter how you take the pic using whatever you have in your hand)

Toyota releases upgraded Noah, Voxy, and Esquire models and aero-equipped hybrid versions

On January 6, Toyota Motor Corporation released its updated Voxy, Noah, and Esquire, along with the Voxy ZS and Noah Si hybrid models equipped with aero parts.

For this minor upgrade, Toyota established its Toyota Safety Sense C package, which includes their Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, and Automatic High Beam. It features a laser radar and camera that combine to offer excellent recognition and reliability for a multitude of driving assistance. In addition, to preserve the gloss and color of a new car for all of its body colors, Toyota has established its self-restoring clear coat paint that restores minor scratches on its own.

Moreover, the Voxy ZS and Noah Si hybrid models feature exclusive aero parts including large metallic bumpers and fenders on the front, and custom 16-inch forged aluminum wheels for enhanced sportiness.

These models are priced from 2,284,691 yen to 3,255,709 yen.

It actually exists:

Nissan also has a similar paint
