Cut the admin some slack man.He is human afterall.

And let's not forget these forums are a free service.So the admin is not obligated to do anything.We should be glad a local automotive forum is even online considering it is a very niche subject.

I registered at autolanka forum earlier this month (5th Jan) hoping to get some advice from the experts here to buy my first car. I bought it last sunday (25th Jan) and the admin approved my account 26th jan.

lol. you know what my friend, I had to create 3 accounts to get this approved. wait quite a long time for each account and had to send some reminders via email too. first two did not approved ( I donno why :sad-smiley-067: ) luckily this was approved and I was running out of usernames :speechless-smiley-004:

Afaik, the reason is very simple.

Lot of guerilla marketeers, mostly salesmen of cars and related products come here and open threads to promote their products. Most of them join, open a thread and vanish. Autolanka is very strict about preventing guerilla marketing. As a result, this is perhaps the only place in this country where you can get true and impartial advice. The cool off period is necessitated because of this reason, I believe.

Is your new car something 'out of this world?'.You can find a lot of threads regarding the most recently introduced vehicles such as vezzle, subaru hybrid in this forum. So you can go through them without even being approved. there is no need to post stupid questions such as "What would be the market price of a brand new vezzle?, How good the vezzle is on fuel? etc.' And remember the admin has a life as well. :sport-smiley-004:

The problem is due to spammers and bogus accounts created by bots, the admin has had to put a manual approval process in place. This is unfortunately an issue brought about by the forums popularity.

On behalf of the admin, I apologise to the newbi on how long it took to approve his account, but sadly there isn't much we can do about it at the moment, unless people are willing to pay a fee to start using the forum so he can hire some people to provide a round the clock service.

considering he was looking to buy a hybrid, I'm sure it's safe to say that even if his profile was approved instantly, his potential thread would not have attracted any responses that havent been given before. If he had taken 1/10th the effort as spent on his kumbaya petition, he would not have to cry about a delayed profile approval.

Most of them were like started few years ago. However, people at elakiri helped me a lot and answered most of my questions.

Hey, first off congrats on your now ride.

I agree what you say here. threads relevant to prices of cars and other stuffs are outdated now. but you can make any query on those threads.

But for a car like cefiro, I think AL is rich enough to guide you even without getting the membership. :)

True. most of the discussions are related to what you mention here. But there are some valuable threads as well. In fact there is a separate category for Automobiles which has many valuable threads.

But the technical details you would find do not change even if the thread was started some time back. As for prices, I think a person should do their own due diligence and asking prior owners about price range, etc on a forum would only be a small component of many.

True Ela**i does have some valuable comments, but most of that is just tainted by the 90% of individuals who just herd together and blindly follow a pack leader off the cliff.
