Did you check whether power comes to compressor?

According to my knowledge It could be a fault of the compressor. However you can only check whether the power comes otherwise bring the car to a good AC technician. Because if you try something the gas may leak.

for the initial start & fans kick on it take some time after compressor on it works only for seconds & it goes off...i cant figure out whether this is a faulty in compressor or an electrical fault.

since it's working for sime seconds means power is ok..

Can be something wrong with the wiring or loose connection. But most probably the compressor has packed up.EG8/EK3 are notorious for AC compressor issues. If it stops working after awhile it probably overheating or something with the comp. clutch mechanism.

I agree with Ruslan. The first thing to get checked is whether your AC has sufficient gas for it to work properly. If the system pressure is okay, then it could be due to a number of things such as a faulty thermostat relay, connection issue or the compressor itself being faulty.

Hi am looking for isolate an issue in a ek3.when ac switched on comoressor holds it like for around 10 seconds & it goes off.why its happening like this? A issue in a relay or compressor?
There could be a leak in the system, system detects the low pressure and cuts off the power to compressor. Check your ac with reputed place.

Ruslan's right. What you report is a classic symptom of low pressure / low coolant gas in the A/C system. Getting it checked for leaks and getting a top up is relatively quick and inexpensive.

Isn't it the required behaviour ?? I mean it's the same in my car as well.. When i switch on the ECON it works for lik ~10 secs then turn off... and then switch back On again.... but when i change it to AC it takes more than 10 seconds.... AC's are not meant to work continuously isn't it ?? correct me if Im wrong...

Please ignore my comment if i have misunderstood the question... :sad-smiley-067:

cheers

I think he meant the compressor cut off and never comes back ? I felt the same when I read this initially.

Ya... i think you are correct machan.. Well in that case i have no experience with that sort of issues ... my suggestion will be to show it to an AC mechanic, rather than ruin something while trying to isolate issues (if you are not a PRO on that area).. :speechless-smiley-019:

I had some issue when I gradually ran out with AC gas. However opposite happen to me. AC compressor comes on and rarely cuts off. Sometimes it run continously. After a top up was done, everything came back to normal.

in my case it works perfectly. i dnt have eco option here.Climate controll. suddenly a\c cool was very little and it colling start to generate like for every 2-3 minits. so i inspect what happen. compressor got very late to start in initially and after that working for like only few second & go. that time is not even enough to cool the car.it's a fault since this was not there. i'll update soon

The guys have suggested a few possibilities including being low on gas. Was your AC serviced recently? If thats the case I'd like to add a few more possibilities.

1. The car has too much gas, or you have the classic scenario of the gas is at the right level but the JDM condensor is not big enough to cool the gas when compressed. So it expands too much triggering the pressure cut off.

2. There is an issue with the pressure cut off switch and it cuts in too quick.

3. The internal thermostatic switch/ thermometer that controls the climate control has been mis placed or collapsed onto the cooler.
