## Post Whoring - Part 3 ##

Did I post this somewhere before.?  cant really remember..

My friend`s Hilux taking a leap after he got a bit over enthusiastic up the sand dune..  :D

Apparently a massive slope on the other side.. Landed nose first.. Had a bull-bar bolted to chassis so the front chassis rails go de-railed.. The impact caused the front struts to rip though the top mount and dented the bonnet.. :D Air bags deployed..

He still dove the thing home, a little over 100km  :D

Ah. Shoot! Sorry to see this old chap.

I hope everyone, including the idiot in the CRV were okay.

(Looks like the 4Runner did its job and took it on the chin for you...But what a crappy thing to happen!)

I was not in the car machan. This happened when Toyota driver is bringing the car back to my house after service. So insurance, police report, everything is taken care of Toyota since its there responsibility. I got a 2021 Subaru Ascent until this mess is solved.

Okay, glad to hear everything is relatively okay...Was the dashcam yours or does the Agent/Dealer make their drivers use a dash-cam when dropping off customer vehicles (good policy if so!)?

Also in other news: A bone stock 2021 Subaru Ascent was seen hitting the trails HARD this afternoon in your neighbourhood>>>Bugger was gunning it like nobody's business on the straight gravel bits, and was fully sideways WRC style on all the turns too...Strange coincidence that!

Its my dashcam machan.

As for the Ascent I should see what can I do without damaging it. I do have some wrc style gravel roads near my house. 😄

Damn!! That wont be a wright-off I guess.. looks like the chassis is ok.. Good that the CRV wasnt T-boned full on.. Over 2 tonnes of 4Runner ramming on the side of it could have easily roll the thing over..

Yes machan, I got a call from the body shop and looks like its just regular body panel replacement needed.

It's lucky CR-V didn't get a big hit. But the Toyota service dept driver who was driving my 4Runner said the CR-V driver got minor injuries. I did not see how bad the CR-V was. Toyota people did everything needed.

So...was the CRV running a red light ? Seems like he tried to dash through the intersection whilst the light was at the last few seconds of being amber. Are there any traffic lights that time the Amber light ? It might be helpful for some drivers to figure out to stop (but then some would actually think there is plenty of time and just floor it).

CR-V did a left turn machan. The light was green to go straight the whole time. Probably mis-judged the speed of on coming traffic.

Well..where general policing was concerned they were stuck with Tatas and othe rather unreliable vehicles. These being troop carriers would imply that they are to be used for general policing..like what they did in the 80s when they gave 70 series troop carriers to all the police stations.

The Lancers , Corollas, Subarus, XTrails, Teanas.. have been around for V*P escorts and highway patrolling only

Those highway patrol Lancers must be hitting 300,000kms for sure.

If you look at the history they have always had Nissan Patrol (27sri), Land Cruisers, J36, Land Rovers and then the Pajero's. With the Saarc agreements and due to politicians looking at cost cutting they started getting the Tata's (Sumo, 207 & cars) and Mahindra's. There is no way a Japanese vehicle can be successful in a tender against the Indian vehicles. I have sat at Police tenders during my time at Land Rover and seen how badly the Japanese fared against the Indian pricing which were like US$ 11,500 against a Land Cruiser at around Yen 2,800,000. One of the biggest moments from my tender days was the fact that I could break the Land Cruiser market in 2007 where I sold 3 Defender troop carriers.

The STF and Army tenders were always made to the Land Rover spec as they wanted the Defender no matter what, until they started using the Mahindra and Tata single cabs to do the work of the Defenders.

Lets face it these Land Cruisers have come as donations, the Lancers and the Highway patrol vehicles were specified in the tenders to have a certain engine capacity and top speed, if not for that we would still see some Tata 207 cabs and Tata cars doing those duties.
